About

who we are

Shame The Boss is a project by the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 701. We represent over 3,900 heavy equipment and stationary engineers across Oregon and SW Washington.

Our Bad Bosses List aims to shame employers who act poorly by mistreating their employees, breaking the law, or engaging in union-busting campaigns. By keeping a list of “Bad Bosses,” we hope to hold employers in Oregon and SW WA accountable and inform the public of their misdeeds.

what we believe

All workers have the right to safe, dignified work and a living wage. When bosses in Oregon and SW Washington threaten those rights, we stand up and fight back. Wherever a boss is trying to cheat workers, we are there to hold them accountable and inform the public.

what you can do

Help us by sharing the Shame The Boss project with your community. Inform others about the companies on the “Bad Bosses List.” Don’t cross picket lines or break boycotts. Unionize if you’re not in a union to stop Bad Bosses in their tracks.

History of greedy pig

Our logo is a nod to the iconic union balloon, Greedy Pig. Designed in the mid-2000s in part by the Construction and General Building Laborers Local 79, Greedy Pig is a symbol of corporate greed and unfair employers. You may have seen him or one of his siblings, Scabby the Rat or Fat Cat, on a picket line.
